Overview
This project explores what a modern training shoe could look like through the lens of lululemon's design philosophy. Designed for people who move between work, commuting, and hypertrophy training, the concept combines the versatility of an everyday sneaker with performance features that improve stability and comfort in the gym.
This was a personal project aimed at refining my 3D modeling and rendering skills, utilizing Blender and Vizcom. This project is in no way endorsed or commissioned by Lululemon.
Design Opportunity
Many people choose flat lifestyle sneakers for strength training because they provide greater stability than traditional running shoes. However, these shoes lack the required support and proportions expected from modern athletic footwear, while most training shoes sacrifice everyday versatility.
The goal was to create footwear that performs confidently during hypertrophy training while remaining understated enough to wear throughout the day. Inspired by lululemon's ABC Pant, a product designed to transition seamlessly, such as biking to and from work, this concept applies the same philosophy to footwear, reducing the need for outfit changes or carrying an extra pair of shoes throughout the day.
Design Objectives
- Low-profile, zero-drop platform for lifting stability
- Wider toe box for natural foot positioning
- Wrapped outsole for lateral support
- Minimal aesthetic suitable for work, commuting, and training
- Integrate the logo in a new way
Concept Development
The project began by exploring a range of low-profile silhouettes inspired by everyday footwear rather than traditional athletic trainers. Through iterative sketching, the design evolved toward a clean, understated form that integrates subtle performance features without appearing overly technical.
Final Concept
The final design reimagines what a modern training shoe could be through lululemon's design language. Rather than separating lifestyle and performance footwear, the concept combines the stability required for hypertrophy-focused training with a clean, understated aesthetic suited for everyday wear. Every element from the zero-drop platform and supportive outsole geometry to the subtle integration of lululemon's branding into the upper construction was designed to create a product that feels both functional and refined.
Digital Development
The concept was translated into a detailed 3D model in Blender to refine proportions, evaluate construction, and develop production-level visualizations. Modelling the shoe digitally allowed design decisions to be tested before creating final presentation imagery.
Digital Visualization
The completed Blender model served as the foundation for evaluating the final design and preparing presentation assets. These renders establish the product's geometry, construction, and overall design before material exploration.
AI-Assisted Visualization
To accelerate the visualization process, final Blender renders were imported into Vizcom to generate photorealistic materials, lighting, and product imagery.
The underlying product design, proportions, and geometry were created entirely in Blender. AI was used exclusively as a visualization tool to communicate the concept more efficiently and explore presentation possibilities.

Reflection
This project challenged me to explore footwear through the perspective of industrial design, balancing technical performance with everyday versatility. By combining traditional sketching, digital modeling, and modern visualization tools, I developed a concept that reflects my interest in creating products that integrate seamlessly into people's daily lives.
